Look What You've Done

This is a song I wrote this year for a group I am apart. It is spiritual with no real bent on any one expression, although I am sure you will be able to recognize the western christian hint. I was going to try to publish these in order but I it's not working out that way.

I might put some of these songs up on a website that you will be able to listen to them on. Which is this one

Look What You've Done

Ask me no questions I'll tell you no lies

telling the truth gets you cut down to size

program your world to avoid your fears

taking those shortcuts sets you back for years

understand God and she teach a song

their words from the earth they're whole and their strong

a melody you heard deep in your mothers womb

it's always in focus you're always in tune

You'll drink in the desert you'll toast to the see

You'll bath in the sun cause it's pure and it's free

You'll always have tears cause you hold nothing back

I pray that you'll settle but you never unpack

I pray you unpack

Look what the Lord has done

look how far you come from the place you began

see how we connect to the weeds and the wine

and the holy heck see how you've made a stand

be proud of the times that you chose yourself

over system and ease and worthless wealth

to be a word of life

no one can take that away from you

they can pluck out your eyes

beat and bruise but you have made it through

Ask me one mile and I'll offer you two

but give me your water it's the least you can do

don't insult me with silver and your priceless gold

I don't want your treasures its you that I hold

I'm weak and I'm strong all at the same time

show me your soul and you're mountains i'll climb

way down in your valley's in the midst of your streams

my visions are clear and they're my making dream

You open your flowers and cry to God

Scream Father forgive I've been such a fraud

I offer to save but I'm grasping at air

you seal up your wounds and open elsewhere

I pray you open up

Look what you have done

see how far you've come from place you began

see how we connect to the trees and the beat

and what you expect to be comfortable just being

You're sure your colors have begun to fade

from yellow to different shades of gray

You can't be a word of Life

no one can make you see

how you've come from heartache and pain

to a place where you've made it through

Ask me for secrets I'll hide all my shame

when this life is over i've no one to blame

I just apologized for something you did

it's easier than admitting all that I've hid

I'd love myself more if I could just lay it all out

stop all of the excuses share all of my doubt

i don't think I'm capable of that

I'm small and I'm weak and I'm and perfectly sad

if I called out for healing what do you think I'd get?

more of the same i'd be willing to bet

I pray I bet

Look what I have done

Look how far I've run from the place where I began

see how we connect to the computer the TV

the internet to seek and not ever find

I'm proud of all the wrong things

I did to be noticed and crowned as your king

A backwards word of life

I'll wait for a vision to come

that tells me I'm worth more than I assume

I'll make it through

Hi I am broken please tell me your name

I am last line so happy you came

Footsteps On the Street

This is part of the first song I ever wrote. I say part because I am certain that there were more words than this. I am sure I have it some where's but for now this is what it is.

I wrote this song in 1994 with my friend Mike Villimaire, as far as I know it is his first song as well. Besides of course "Lonely Hearts" which was more of an improv song.

K found the rest of the song. It's a little dramatic but hey I was 16 what do you expect?

Enjoy

Footsteps On The Street

James/ Villemaire

In a tent on a street Running down trying to find it

Praying to god we wont be seen Going crazy all my problems

All my thoughts gone Looking for it couldn't find it

So I wanted to turn back but you wouldn't let me

Said we're going far, Said you could see the future

But all I could see was darkness and I could hear were

Footsteps on the street

Footsteps on the street

Stripped of all my problems

gone were all my fears

Footsteps on the street

Told you that I wanted it You said I didn't need it

Told you that I needed to leave You said no you don't

I said I wanted to run So you followed

Running into the night Running into our fears

Running over the moment trying to reach the moon

Ran along the tracks said you heard a train

All I could hear were

Footsteps on the street

each one pounding out a different memory

each one pounding out a different pain

Footsteps on the street
